Repair Services - Genuine Windows Installations

In order for us to perform a legal copy of an operating system on your machine you must own a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for the product being installed.  If you do not possess a valid COA or product key certificate, you will need to purchase an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) licence of the product.

What does my Certificate of Authenticity look like?

Your COA will look like this and will usually be attached to your computer or will be stuck to the front of the user manual for your computer. If you do not have a COA and you think that your copy of Windows is not genuine, you can check it here

Please note that possession of an apparently genuine Windows disc is not proof in the eyes of the law that you own the licence to the program. If we ask you to substantiate your ownership of Windows and you cannot provide evidence that you are licensed to use Windows, we are obliged charge you for a new licence and disc as part of an OEM pack.

Can I use my existing installation but use a new product key if I believe my installation is illegal?

You can only use your existing installation with a new product key if the existing installation was performed using a Volume Licence. If it was performed using an OEM licence, you will need to uninstall Windows and reinstall it using a new product key.

Will you report me for using illegal software?

No, we will simply make recommendation for you to purchase a genuine copy of Windows and we will refuse to perform work on your machine(s). If we have reason to believe that you may be extensively involved in software piracy then we may notify the authorities.

Can I buy my own copy of Windows for you to install?

Yes, but we use OEM System Builder Packs which are much cheaper than retail however should you still wish to purchase Windows yourself, we are happy to install it for you providing you can show us the COA. System Builder packs are available to trade only.
